  • Homecoming Service – October 26th, 2:00PM

For 182 years, our small but mighty church has survived on the strength of its committed and dedicated members and, most importantly, our unity in faith. But even so, our small Church has also faced struggles this past year in pursuing this very goal. For those who have been in this community for some time, and for those who may have heard through the news as well, small churches have been facing growing issues of sustaining members and ultimately shutting down due to larger congregations absorbing members and an inherent desire from the larger UMC to consolidate smaller churches. As we at Mt. Zion have seen a deep decline in members attending Sunday Service and worship, the larger organization of the UMC has come to our congregation several times over the year to remind us of this prevailing situation.

But even so, Homecoming is always a treasured and time-honored occasion for our members to come home and celebrate what makes our Mt. Zion unique and special. Here, we celebrate one another’s presence, to reconnect with all faces, old and new, and to celebrate our Church and its longevity in pursuing Christ’s mission in faith and ministry. No matter the issues that come before us, our Church will stay committed to this mission and do our best, no matter what situation unfolds.

So, for any member who has personally been touched by this little Church with a big heart, we truly hope to see you and your families at our annual Homecoming. We can never take for granted any chance to celebrate our Church and to be together in faith and worship, and we do hope that — by keeping our community strong and together — we will continue to celebrate for many years to come.

  • Please join us for regular in-person Sunday services at 9:00AM – being held in-person and on-line. Use the “contact us” link to request information on how to participate on-line.

We are a small Christian community with a big heart living God’s word.

From the moment you walk in the front door it is apparent that this church is different.  It’s the people and the atmosphere that make the difference. The simple field-stone construction of the church, rebuilt in 1880, offers a peaceful environment for worship.   The congregation is a community united in the desire to know God and follow Jesus’ teachings.  We support each other and share our triumphs and challenges, knowing that there is always someone available from the extended church family to assist if the need should arise.  This church is alive!

We welcome visitors and invite you to join our church family.

Please join us for worship on Sunday morning at 9am.
